UPDATES FOR THE SECTION OUTING ;D

Cause Singapore isnt really that fun , me and natasha decided that the section outing will only have bowling and eating at SEOUL GARDEN :D

First , we will be eating at Seoul Garden for lunch , followed by going to SAFRA or wherever place to go for bowling :D

We shall meet at 1.30 pm at the Tampines Interchange , Macdonald's there on 18th June .

Hi guys, as you all know, we attained a Silver award.
Just 0.5 marks to Gold.
I'm quite heartbroken, to be honest.
BOOHOOHOO.

Well, this was my first and last SYF,
it was really a joy to be able to perform on so many stages with you all,
especially at Esplanade.

The truth or dare in the dressing rooms :D

Those times will be forever etched into my memories,
and all those sectionals that we had which we worked really hard in.

I don't know if you learn better with someone conducting or just clapping or whatever,
but I hope all of you will continue to work hard
and bring the band to greater heights.

Things that I miss:
Oversleeping on Saturday mornings and taking cabs to band practice.
Lunch with you all at 12-1pm on Saturdays.
Conducting you guys for Carmen Fantasy and Overture No.1.
Cracking jokes among ourselves.
The one night before SYF when we slept over (I forgot to bring towel :x)
The buses which transported us to and fro.
Truth or Dare with the Unhealthy Clique people.
Esplanade performance.
SYF.
Band practices.
Thinking of you.
GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

And I really wished that we had taken SYF seriously as a section.
But you guys still did a great job and all of you worked really hard.

Alicia Tew Yu Leng will be planning a section outing. :D

And I will be passing my beloved and bent baton to her as a Saxophone heirloom.

Hello darling saxophonists, good job for yesterday's POP!
Sec 1s had an awesome performance all by yourselves, be proud whoooo!
Seniors also did a good job during Carmen, and LOVE,

Hi, good job for those who came for the saxophone course at Bishan today!
For those who didn't, well you missed out!
Hahahah, and sorry I was late, missed out some of the fun too!

Anyways, it has been confirmed that our section will be going for
the solo performance of our saxophone 'teacher' today with Philharmonic Winds!
Date and ticket price will be given out soon,

Hello fellow saxophonists!
Here are some more updates for you guys.

New updates:
-There will be a meeting only for our section with Mrs. Soh on Wednesday, 26th of November this week at 1pm in school. Please assemble by 12.50pm in the school canteen and do not be late!
-Please message me (Schuyler) once you have asked your family and peers to attend our P.O.P concert, the number of people coming. Specification of who is coming is not needed, just numbers.
Please message me as soon as possible, before tomorrow (Tuesday 25th November) at 10pm.
-For our band camp, do remember to bring extra clothes and a towel for the first day as you may get wet at East Coast Park.
-Do remember to collect your Black and White uniforms if you haven't already done so.
-Remember to bring your favorite dish for the potluck day! (Second day of band camp)

Repeated announcements:
-Please assemble at Tampines Interchange's small McDonald's opposite to the Bengawan Solo by 11am tomorrow (Tuesday 25th November) in proper school attire (for councillors, ties are not needed). Please bring along your awesome saxophones and do not be late. From there, switch trains at City Hall Interchange, and Schuyler will meet you at Bishan Interchange, and we shall happily walk together to KuoChuan Presbytarian School.

IMPORTANT: Lastly, please do note that there will be section practices just for our section so we can improve tremendously before the new year starts! Do make yourselves available on every Wednesday and Friday during the month of December 2008 from 9:30am to 1pm. Further details such as venue will be provided at a later date. Pleasepleaseplease do make an effort to come as SYF is just around the corner, and we do want to get a GWH, right?

Hi guys, it's been a long while since this account was activated.
Anyways, I got some important updates for you guys!

First up: There will be a briefing tomorrow by Mrs. Soh Pei Chiun at 10:30am in school, please do make yourself available. After the briefing, Sec 3s will have to stay back to discuss about the upcoming band camp. Also, for those who haven't taken back their saxophones from last practise, please do take the chance tomorrow to bring back your saxes for a little polishing!

Next: As you guys probably know, Mr. Sim has arranged a little something for us at KuoChuan Presbyterian Secondary School this upcoming Tuesday at 1pm. We will be meeting at Tampines MRT station at 11am, and from there Schuyler (aka, me) will meet you guys at Bishan MRT station, where we will make our way to KuoChuan School together. Please come in your proper school uniform, socks and all, and remember to bring your saxophones! And do make sure your bus cards contain sufficient amount of money for the transportation!

Lastly: There may be practises just for our section, to improve our sound for the upcoming SYF where we will be performing Carmen Fantasy. The venues have yet to be confirmed but please do keep your Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-1pm free during the month of December. Updates will be posted soon!

Hey saxists!
Btw, its Felix here.
First and foremost I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate Schuyler for being the SL! (: SO. Firstly, i would like to remind all juniors and seniors, be it sec 1,2,3 or 4, to give your utmost attention to Mr Sim or Ms Leong when either one of them are at the front talking or conducting. AND PLEASE, do not chat like some little monkeys in a zoo. Like i said, if you have to talk, whisper.
What I wish to see from all juniors is that you will take band seriously. SYF's next year, and you will have a chance to participate in it, thats if you put in your utmost effort and commitment into band and drills as it would be needed for SYF. As i believe, there is a time for everything, so please do the appropriate thing at the appropriate time.
I know some of you who know me more would see me as a person who is not so much of stern as compared to fun and outgoing. But when i say business, i mean business. I expect the FULLEST 110% from each and everyone of you, be it in band or in studies.

TO THE GRADUATING SENIORS:
You all are like a mentor to me, guiding me through each chapter of my life in band. I really appreciate all of the blood and sweat shed in the building up of the saxophone section! :D Esp Cherie and Xinying. Both seem like those quiet kind, but when they get fierce, they are scary.

TO THE SEC 3's:
Its the time to show what you are made of. Lead the juniors well and aim for distinction and higher always.

TO THE JUNIORS:
Like i said earlier in the post, I expect your fullest 110% attention and commitment towards the band to ensure that we achieve what we are aiming for.

Lastly, I would not like to see anyone ponning band.
And congratulations to those who got the various posts!(:

Hello people!
This is Schuyler btw.
Only Mr. Sim calls me as Sally in band -.-
Wahahahah, i would like to say congratulations to Felix for becoming Drum Major.
But please remember that being a leader, is also to serve.
WAHAHAA, i sound so mature
and i think that some people are going to hate me for saying that a leader must also serve.
ANYHOOS, I would like to thank whoever who allowed for me to have the
opportunity to serve as a section leader even though I joined the band really late,
and whenever any of the seniors come back,
I will do my best to keep up the saxophone section,
and make it one of the strongest if not the best in the band.
I believe all our secondary 1s have a lot of potential to grow into great saxophonists,
and seniors to be able to teach well, and not let the passion for saxophones die.
AND, ALL OUR SEC 1s, AIM FOR DISTINCTION
I believe that you all can become great leaders, and let out section thrive (:
Felix! Make sure the band doesn't undermine itself. We CAN get GWH!

I don't really know how manyof you remember what Mr. Sim said after SYF 2007.
But he told the band this. "Everyone has his/her own pride. Even I, have my own pride. The band once achieved a Bronze, to a Silver, and a Gold (2005). Now, 2007, we achieved a Silver. If in 2009, band gets a Bronze, or maybe even a C.O.P., prepare, for the worst"

Well, the "worst" situation is obvious. You all should know what he might mean. Maybe he was just saying it in spite of anger. But nevertheless we must never get a Bronze or C.O.P. We only aim for a Silver and higher. Enlighten the band Felix =) The school has laughed at band for getting a Silver. How can we suffer humiliation for taking a Bronze ><" ?

TO THE SEC 1s =),
Not only to saxophone juniors, but for all. You know I heard of some secondary 1s saying, they will never make it to SYF ; saying that they're just too lousy, no confidence, they can't play, they have no talent, no ability - All sorts of self-demoralizing statements.
That's not true =)

Every senior started out in the band, Secondary 1, innocent, cute, not knowing anything at all. Hey, even I started out like that. I didn't even know the basics of any instrument. I thought Baritone saxophone = Barry's toned saxophone. Alto Saxophone = Auto Saxophone. Tenor Saxophone = Tanned Saxophone. =( !
Slowly, it will change. My breath expanded, it could hold for a longer time. My notes and fingering were slowly improving. It happens =) Results don't show overnight yea? It's not like "Ok this is my first practice with the main band. Omg I sound like crap. I totally suck." and the next practice, " I still sound like crap?!".

It takes a period of weeks and months to see the improvement.
Hey we all started out not knowing how to WALK right? Now we even find 2.4km runs a bore.

- Everyone was born the same way aren't they? We don't have deformed lips, deformed fingers. It's not like our lips are diagonal, vertical, S-shaped =S or 3-shaped =3. We have 5 fingers, not 4. Who was ever born naturally with musical talent? (Yea Don't talk about Beethoven and Mozart lol)

Hard work pays off not talent =)

Note for Felix- I guess ever since Mr. Sim joined our band as our Conductor, this year, 2008 is the first time Saxophone section possesses the D. Major. Felix, work hard and do our section proud =) Lead saxophone section to be the best section in SHWO =D Goodluck for Carmen Fantasy's Solo. Keep propaganding the band to get GWH.

"If you aim for the Skies (GWH), but didn't make it, you still fall on the clouds (Gold)."

Note for Schuyler - SECTION LEADER. Take good care of the section and work along hand with Felix =D. If Xinying, Me or Cherie comes back to prospect the saxophones, give us a proud impression okay? Likewise everyone has pride, SHWO Saxophones must be something we're proud of yea. =) Goodluck for SYF 2009!

Note for Amirah - Amirah, as long as you are not born with retarded lips or twisted fingers, I believe anyone can play the baritone saxophone well. You just gotta work hard. Promise me to come for band regularly every practice, keep focusing alright? Do you realise how important are you for SYF 2009? You're the only Woodwind Baseline other than Huilin, Base Clarinet. Both of you are Sec 3s, I believe both have the same potential. Goodluck!

Note for Donovan - Hey, sorry I didn't had much time to know you, or talk to you. Nevertheless, I know your ability and talent as a Tenor saxophone player. You play your part to bond the section well. Even though Felix and Schuyler are the main leaders, hey, you're a Sec 3 Senior too. The top seniors =) Goodluck to you too.

The Sec 4 Seniors has officially stepped down alright? =) You 4 are on your own. Lead our juniors well.

SYF is coming soon. i hope you all including the sec 1s will put in your 101% effort for Carmen Fantasy. Its a simple song, and i hope you people will work very hard.

ESPECIALLY TENORS. not only tenors, BUT ALTO AND BARITONE TOO OKAY. BETTER WORK HARD OR ELSE.

Our goal is Gold with Honours, if you all don't put in your very very best, you guys will drop, and of course as a senior, i do not want to see you guy drop right?! so please, don't let the seniors down, Carmen fantasy is nothing, believe you can do it, and you will be able to play your very best. and I believe you guys are the best!

To the sec 1s, you are new and ya, you don't know how to play songs YET. but you can, if you want too. As long as you put in your best, your determination for music, i believe you guys will be able to play "Carmen Fantasy" and our set piece very soon. If you believe you can, you can. If you believe you cant make it, you cant. SO SET THE RIGHT ATTITUDE RIGHT.
YOU CAN IF YOU WANT TO! SO IF YOU WANT TO, YOU CAN! (:

Seniors of the saxophone section, you don't have the seniors to help you anymore. SO PLEASE SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE JUNIORS OKAY. i know you guys don't want the seniors to come back and nag and nag, so please teach your juniors. TAKE INITIATIVE, don't wait. If you wait, your juniors wont be able to make it. You guys are not CMIs, you guys have the potential in saxophone and that's why you guys are in this section! So better work hard cause there's a soprano sax and tenor sax solo. Please ah, the best will take the solo, so no matter what, you guys must practise very hard for the songs.

AHH TODAY I WAS DOZING OFF FOR EVERY CLASS.
but nobody noticed (:
cos i was covering my face with both and hands and sleeping, so ya.
why is it that my teachers teaching styles are so boring?
i mean, no offence but. it is really boring.
i can't stop myself from sleeping even if i want to learn.
ugh, bloody hell.
i hate the stupid indian relief teacher.
he blackmails students.
went to band room at like 1.45 cos mr. law is on reservice,
so we were just slacking anyways.
I GOT MY SAXOPHONE BACK. YES! YES!
we were supposed to begin at 2.15 but dragged until like 3.
then practiced a bit of march together.
then we went down to practice with the uniformed groups.
but it was raining, so we went below the archy thing that sheltered us.
the place behind the flag raising place.
but we got hit by the rain anyways, so whatevs.
played. then we did nothing for like the longest time ever.

then band ended, went to mac with ca/clarissa.
there were a bunch of primary school guy kids laughing like crazy
and clarissa was like ,"INCIVILISED PEOPLE"
and her JUNIOR,peishan heard and replied," its UNCIVILISED"(:
i was laughing my head off.
for the whole meal they kept criticizing,
so i was like,"wait until i finish eating lah, i help you go scold them"
then after i finished eating,
i went over to the table next to them and asked peishan if i could sit there
then the primary school guys were like ,"no you can't"
and i was bellowing at them ,"I GOT ASK YOU MEH"
in such a fierce tone that all 3 of them ran out to "wash their hands"

then later one of them bought ice cream
and had a bit of ice cream on the corner of his mouth
and i was telling him "boy you mouth"
then started started licking all over his mouth.
AND CLARISSA WAS SO MEAN AS TO
keep changing the spot where the ice cream was 'located'
I MEAN, he already licked it off (:
then later i saw my friend and was smiling at him
then the ice cream boy was like very funny ah

today we had band, full band from 8-10
then 10-12 was supposed to be receiving tuition from sax tutor
but our section had a misunderstanding.
HAHAHHA. XYZ you rock!
so we had sectionals
but today i didn't really achieve anything new
cos we were mostly slacking, or maybe just me.
i was a little slacking
well, i can play all the songs now (yips!)
